Dear Village Parent:

As you know, it is important to offer stimulating activities to your child. Her intellectual development is certainly an important part of her growth. You also know, however, that it is important not to over-stimulate your child. Quiet and gentle interactions can create special moments of bonding for you and your baby.

I hope you are enjoying the opportunities to connect emotionally through music as we sing and rock. At home, create quiet moments to listen to soothing music with your child. Rock in a chair, walk her slowly around a room, lie face to face and gently rub her, or enjoy your own favorite way to interact in a calming manner. This week’s new rocking song, “Home Sweet Home,” is a lovely arrangement for men’s voices and one that is worth listening to over and over. Enjoy this and other selections on your Home CD.
