SWIS/Week 12

Dear Imagine That! Parent:

Listening to music, singing, humming, playing instruments, even rhythmically chanting are all musical experiences—all of which are present in a Kindermusik class. Plato believed that music should be the first subject taught to children because it creates a sense of order and harmony. Recent research indicates that those who have had early musical exposure show higher achievement in other academic areas.

Just a few of this week’s in-class musical experiences were:

• Singing and humming “hello,”
• Imitating phrases with dynamic (volume) and tempo (speed) changes,
• Playing a question-answer singing game, and
• Dancing to recorded music.

Kindermusik classes are full of activities which are not only fun but beneficial. I hope that you and your child are enjoying this experience!
