Imagine That/See What I Saw/Week 2

Dear Imagine That! Parent:

Today the children learned a new music term: glissando. We had a lot of fun playing with glissando sounds--continuous sliding movements from one pitch to another. A glissando can go up, down, or it can even alternate up and down! Experimenting with vocal glissandos can extend the vocal pitch range of both the singing and speaking voice and it can help develop vocal expressiveness.

This week at home, you, your child and other family members can enjoy making lots of glissando sounds with your voices and with your Kindermusik Slide Whistle. If possible, make a recording of your experimentation, exploration, and maybe even a little laughter mixed in! In class next week we will listen to the tapes the children have made. Through this exploration, creation, and analysis, your child is not only developing vocal expressiveness but is also learning about process and individuality.
