See What I Saw/Week 8

Dear Imagine That! Parent:

Self-control…a much desired attribute in our children! Teaching children a desired skill such as this is more a matter of presenting opportunities than forcing behaviors. Through the music and movement activities in Imagine That!, many such opportunities arise.

In class we have been enjoying the go and stop game “Tricky Trails” for several weeks. In this game, the children move in various ways while listening to music. When the music selection stops, the children freeze. They begin again when the music begins. They are experimenting with movement choices, learning about self space and shared space, listening, and controlling their own actions.

Such skills take time and repeated experiences to develop. That is one reason we repeat activities over several weeks.  Learn more about the learning opportunities your child is experiencing by reading Family Activity #8. Then enjoy the suggested home activity this week!
