Wiggles &
Giggles/Week 7
Dear Our Time Parent:
I hope you are enjoying the wide variety of music you are learning in Kindermusik. Early exposure to variety will help your child learn to appreciate and understand the diversity of the music world. In this week’s class alone, you have sung (or listened to):
· an American folk song (“Down in the Meadow”),
· an African-American game song (“Peep Squirrel”),
· an instrumental selection (“Radetzky March”) by Johann Strauss, Sr. which was composed in honor of Field Marshal Radetzky’s victorious military campaign,
· an Israeli folk song (“Shalom Haverim”), and
· a Danish folk song (“Clapping Land”).
This is quite an impressive array of musical styles! Consider augmenting your music listening at home by borrowing CDs from your local public library or by tuning in to your local NPR (National Public Radio) station. [Note to Educator: Include your local NPR station call numbers if desired.] Or feel free to
ask me about other music listening opportunities.
